Sweet Tooth, Smarter Choices
When I think about sugar, I think of all the delicious treats we love that are packed with it. As a kid, I was a total sugar fanatic—and as an adult, I still love to bake. Fortunately, I’ve found many great recipes online that use less sugar, or sometimes none at all.
The World Health Organization recommends that free sugar (typically white sugar) make up no more than 10% of your daily calorie intake, and ideally closer to 5%. For someone eating about 2,000 calories per day, that’s roughly 25 grams—or about six teaspoons—of sugar daily.
Enjoy an occasional sweet treat, but try exploring alternative recipes when you can. Feel free to share your questions or comments!
